Cultural Survival Projects

Home » Testimonials

“Over the past several years we have purchased 2 rugs and used the rug washing and restoration services of the Magic Carpet in Nevada City. Magic Carpet's knowledge, service, and dedication to supporting cultural survival projects that provide health care and educational programs in rug weaving communities is just an added benefit of this outstanding business. We really trust Magic Carpet's expert staff for purchases and restoration and repair work, we highly recommend you do the same, and they are always willing to take the time to answer questions and provide background information about these works of art.”
- Joe and Madeline D., Penn Valley, CA
“The Magic Carpet is great, full of very unique rugs, statuary ,silver and brass jewelry and woven pillows. I became hooked when I wandered in, looking for a rug for my bedroom.
Paul and Eileen were so helpful and patient with me! They spent a couple hours pouring over all of the rugs they had, showing me rugs on their "easy to navigate" web page and helping me to understand the soul and history of these exceptional rugs. They sent a pile of rugs home with me for a trial run. I was so happy with the rug I finally selected that when I had finished the remodel of the kitchen and living room, I returned once again. This time Eileen and Paul actually came out to my place, took measurements, looked around, and returned two hours later with a truck load of rugs. It was a fantastic afternoon of drinking tea, viewing rugs and learning more about the culture and peoples who weave these handmade masterpieces.
I love the rugs, but more than that, I appreciate what Eileen and Paul have created in the way of community; contributing to our local town by maintaining a thriving and well respected business for the past 30 years; as well as supporting struggling communities half way around the world, importing wares from cultural survival projects that promote health care and education programs in the rug weaving communities throughout the Middle East. The Magic Carpet is more than just a beautiful gallery, it is a link between the East and the West, the old and the new, the modern and the traditional.”

“Moving into a 50+ year old hardwood floor home, we wanted more rugs to supplement those we brought with us. Also, we needed to have several of our older ones cleaned. Where to go? Once we met Paul and Eileen, we knew we'd found the right place. Rugs from Magic Carpet now grace every room in our home. As we attended several of their public programs that helped us learn what it takes to make these fine rugs and the heritage that each of them displays, we were even more convinced. Over the years we continue to appreciate the ways in which The Magic Carpet is a contributing member of our community. The support and contributions to many community service programs is outstanding. Thanks to Paul and Eileen Jorgensen, this community is a happier and more healthy place, and so are we.”

“Hi Paul, The Kazak arrived safe and sound, and is sunning herself on the deck after her long trip. This rug is just perfect for the foyer. I love it! Very “shock and awe” for the front door. The design also feels very at home under a Kuba we have hanging over the loft railing. What a great buy. Thanks, Paul! Will definitely shop with you guys again.”
